Q. Why is wedding photography expensive?

A. There are a lot of things to consider but the main reasons are -

Equipment and insurance - A photographer should be using top flight cameras and lenses to capture your day perfectly. We also have full public liability insurance, together personal indemnity insurance. All these costs do add up and means a true professional does have to charge a premium to make sure they are offer you the best level of service and beautiful images of your special day.

Time spent shooting & editing - When you add up meeting times (both at our location and at your venue) test shoot, your wedding itself and then post shoot editing, it'll be around 30hrs work. When you divide that by the cost of the coverage, it's not quite so scary.

Q. Are there any hidden costs?

A. No. I like to offer straight-forward pricing, with no hidden extras. This allows you to create the perfect photography package for your wedding at the right price. Things like colour correction/post editing are included in the price of my attendance.

Q. Do you charge VAT on top of your prices?

A. No, the prices you see are all you pay.

Q: What areas of the Country do you cover?

A. Most my work covers Oxfordshire, but can cover all the areas of the UK. I can cover Gloucestershire, Berkshire, Buckinghamshire, Hampshire and London. I have been booked for abroad too as far as Australia.

Q: How do I book and confirm a booking?

A. After initial contact by e-mail or telephone, it is preferable to set up a free consultation. I understand this may not always practical (I have been booked from Australia in the past!!). If a meeting is not possible, then I can e-mail or post a PDF document that contains contract details along with my terms and conditions. Just fill this in and send back with the booking deposit, I will counter-sign, copy and send back to you. The final balance will be due 1 month prior to the Wedding Day.

Q. How long should we schedule for photography on our wedding day?

A. You would be wise to consider putting an hour and a half, to two hours aside for your drinks reception and photography. This would give you time to take all your group shots, couple shots and still have time with your guests before dinner without needing to rush.

Q: How long do you spend photographing us and the group shots?

This will depend somewhat on the couple. Typically, I will spend between 15 and 30 minutes with each couple following the ceremony. For group shots, I advise that you think creatively about these. Avoiding your guests waiting around for too long is always the best. After all they are all at your wedding to party!!

Q: How many Photographs do you take?

A. There is no set limit to the number of image taken on your Wedding Day. The number of images taken can be influenced by a number of factors, length of coverage, number of guests, number of formal group shots, length of time between Ceremony & Reception. I work quietly and efficiently and you will have enough time to mingle with your guests as well.

Q. Photographers seem to offer different styles of photography, what is the difference?

A. Formal – The images are of traditional/posed style. Reportage – Documenting the day through candid images, with less posing. I like offer a mixture of both styles in order to perfectly capture the days events!

Q: What is your “style” of Photography?

A. I best describe my style as a story telling approach. Mixing a candid, reportage style with your requested more formal group photos.

Q. Why would I need a second photographer to attend our wedding?

A. A second photographer would enable wider coverage of your day, perhaps covering groom preparation as well as the bridal, or if you have 100 or more guests. It allows us to tell your wedding story from different perspectives, such as during the ceremony and speeches. Ultimately you will have more choice of photos for your album. Normal second photographer attendance is between 4-6 hours depending on your main photography package.

Q: Do we meet beforehand?

Absolutely that is a must! Successful Wedding Photography depends on building a good rapport between the Photographer and the Couple. By meeting you, I can gain a clear understanding of your needs and who you both are as a couple. I encourage people to share their ideas and no request is too difficult to consider. Most of all, I want you to feel at ease with the experience of being photographed. The ideal opportunity to do this is when we get together for the complimentary pre-Wedding Portrait Session.

Q. Why is it best to have our pre wedding meeting at the venue?

A. Familiarity with the venue and its grounds can save a lot of time on the wedding day. We will already have an idea of the best locations to do group shots and scouted out secluded areas for images of the Bride and Groom alone. This pre wedding meeting will normally take place on the week of the wedding, so we can plan around the weather forecast and any ideas will stay fresh in mind ready for the wedding itself.

Q. How long will it take to receive our images/album?

A. You will receive a disc and a weblink to your image within 10 days of your wedding. I will upload your photos to a password protected gallery and e-mail you the details a few days following the Wedding. After returning from your honeymoon browse the gallery at your leisure, pass on the password to family and friends to enjoy. If you have requested a Proof CD of all the very low res watermarked images, this will be sent out to you approx. 2 weeks after your Wedding. An album/book can take around a week to design ready for approval and then two to three weeks to be printed.

Q. What if it rains on my wedding day?

A. Pictures can be taken indoors, between showers and meeting at the venue helps us to plan for all types of weather ready for your wedding day.

Q. What is your back up plan if you are ill; who will photograph our wedding?

A. In the unlikely event that I cannot attend I will use one of my professional associates to take my place.

Q. What is your cancellation policy?

A. I take a holding deposit of £350 when you book which is transferable to another date but non-refundable for outright cancellation of a wedding, unless I can book another wedding on that date.

Q: Do you require food?

A. It is always appreciated if some food and soft drinks are available whilst you enjoy your Wedding Breakfast. I don’t shoot people eating..

Q: Can prints etc be purchased on-line and how long will gallery be available to view?

A. Yes, all images can be purchased with several various size / finish options, typically all Wedding galleries stay on-line for approximately 6 months.

Q: How much post production work do you do on the images, are blemishes etc removed?

A. I carry out simple, minimal enhancements for the images displayed in the web galleries. Sometimes digital enhancements can be time consuming, but I’d be happy to advise what’s possible and quote you for any enhancements you wish for.

Q: We have ordered a USB of High res Images, how long after the Wedding can we expect to receive it ?

Approximately 4 – 5 weeks after. I shoot RAW and JPEG images at the same time. The Jpeg images are used to upload to the on-line wedding gallery shortly after the wedding (usually 1 week after the on-line gallery is ready). All the RAW files are then converted individually and checked, this process takes some time to complete.
